How Does ABS Remediate Mold?

LOCATING THE SOURCE OF THE MOISTURE

Sometimes the source of water damage is obvious. When your house experiences flooding, the damage is typically extensive and the water’s origin point is clear.

Other times, hidden water damage often reveals itself through musty odors behind walls or under flooring. Our technicians quickly locate these concealed sources using infrared cameras, scope cameras, moisture meters, and hygrometers to locate the source of the moisture causing te mold and odor.

As soon as the source is located, immediately action should be taken. Whether it’s a leaking plumbing supply line, a leaking ice maker, or roof damage, eliminating the source should be top-priority.

CONTAINMENT | AIR FILTRATION

Mold remediation containment is used to keep any airborne contaminants (mainly mold spores) from spreading beyond the work area. Containment chambers isolate contaminated areas to prevent cross-contamination to areas of the property that are not contaminated during the remediation process.

During the entire process, we run air filtration devices (AFDs) to ensure we keep a clean environment — inside the containment and in the rest of the home or office.

FOLLOWING THE CORRECT MOLD REMEDIATION PROCESSES

We follow the IICRC S520 protocol for all of our remediation activities. Our work follows detailed Standard Operating Procedures developed with our Indoor Air Quality provider for each specific situation. Unlike competitors who use quick “spray and pray” methods, we deliver thorough, professional remediation services.

After any base-line air samples have been taken, and containment or barriers are in place, we will begin our remediation process. Our cleaning and removal approach is based on each situation. Each project follows a specific sequence of events starting with performing a controlled demolition and removal of affected materials, then area treatment with peroxide solutions, HEPA vacuuming, and cleaning surfaces, and final disinfection.

When mold grows on porous material, removal is the protocol that we follow. Molds on non-porous or semi-porous materials are often cleaned and disinfected. We use plant based disinfect solutions.
We use HEPA air scrubbers thorough the entire process to keep the containment zone with minimal airborne particles that may be released during the remediation activities.
