How Does ABS Remediate Mold?

PRE & POST REMEDIATION AIR SAMPLING / TESTING

The purpose of Pre-Remediation Testing gives our mold technicians a baseline for pre-remediation conditions as well as determine the scope of work for a successful remediation.
This Post Remediation Verification (PRV) is an evaluation performed by a mold or indoor air quality (IAQ) specialist to determine that the remediation protocol was followed and determine that the space is safe and ready for occupants.
ABS follows the ANSI/IICRC S520 protocols, and uses a 3rd party indoor air quality (IAQ), specialist, to perform all post-remediation verification testing.

LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE MOISTURE

Sometimes it’s obvious where the source of the water is coming from. If there has been a flood at your house, water damage will likely be extensive and you’ll know right where the water is coming from. In other cases, though, you’ll need to do some investigating to figure out why there is water on the kitchen floor or why there are water stains on your ceiling.
We also use advanced FLIR cameras and scope cameras to assist in the investigation and finding the source of the moisture causing the mold.
As soon as the source is found, you should immediately take action. Whither it’s a leaking plumbing supply line, a leaking ice maker, or roof damage, eliminating the source is top priority.

CONTAINMENT | AIR FILTRATION

Mold remediation containment is used to keep any airborne contaminants (mainly mold spores) from spreading beyond the work area. Containment chambers isolate contaminated areas to prevent cross-contamination to areas of the property that are not contaminated during the remediation process.

During the entire process, we run air filtration devices (AFDs) to ensure we keep a clean environment — inside the containment and in the rest of the home or office.

CORRECT REMEDIATION PROCESSES

We follow the IICRC S520 protocol for all of our remediation activities. We also follow protocols written from our IAQ provider.

After testing has been done and containment or barriers are in place, we will begin our remediation process. Our cleaning and removal approach is based on each situation. We perform a controlled demolition of affected materials, sanitizing, HEPA vacuuming and cleaning of surfaces.

When mold grows on porous material, removal is the protocol that we follow. Molds on non-porous or semi-porous materials are often cleaned and disinfected. We use plant based disinfect solutions.
We use HEPA air scrubbers thorough the entire process to keep the containment zone with minimal airborne particles that may be released during the remediation activities.
